MISTRAL is a summer school for PhD and post-doctoral students whose pedagogical programme concerns the study of molecular mechanisms ensuring and regulating the transport of water and nutrient ions (nitrate, phosphate, potassium, iron, heavy metals, etc.) in plants, and the roles of these mechanisms in the adaptation of the plant to its abiotic environment (nutritional deficiencies, hydric stress, etc.) and in the communication with the beneficial micro-organisms in the soil (root symbioses). The objective of this school is to train PhD students and post-docs in the theory and analytical techniques for the study of the function of ion and water transport in plants. In addition, MISTRAL aims at:

  • promoting meetings and exchanges between researchers and between young scientists and researchers,
  • promoting the sharing of knowledge and technologies,
  • training young scientists
  • promoting bilateral collaborations between countries.

MISTRAL is organised every two years and as in the previous edition (2018), this year will include teachers from European universities, who will participate with lectures, conferences or by supervising practicals.
